Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

IS THERE A DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING MY COURSEBOOK ORDERS?

No, but the sooner the better! Often we can get all the coursebooks your students need within a few days, but sometimes there are problems—and the sooner we know about them, the easier it is for us (and you) to adapt. If you submit orders a month before the start of class, we’ll usually have enough time to deal with any issues that might arise.  We strongly recommend allowing 2 weeks for order processing and delivery of books.

ONE OF THE BOOKS I’D LIKE TO ASSIGN IS OUT OF PRINT. CAN YOU STILL SUPPLY COPIES FOR MY STUDENTS?

Sometimes. In many cases it is prohibitively difficult for us to supply copies of out-of-print titles, but it’s always worth checking!

I’D LIKE TO RECEIVE FREE DESK COPIES OF THE BOOKS I’M TEACHING. CAN YOU GET THESE FOR ME?

Book Culture does not supply desk copies to professors. These should be requested from the books’ publishers. Please let us know if you need their contact information. If we have a book in stock and you’d rather not wait for your desk copy to arrive, you can purchase it at Book Culture and then return the desk copy to us for a refund (provided it’s in saleable condition).

Using the Coursebook Website

HOW DO I CREATE A NEW ORDER?

Click on "coursebook order form" in the menu bar at the top of the page to get started! There you can input your course information (course name, number, enrollment size) and the books you'll be using in your class. Once you create your order it is automatically submitted to Book Culture for our review and processing.

how do i edit an existing order?

Start by clicking the "my account" link in the menu at the top of the page. There, you'll see a link to view your order history. The order history page will show all the orders you have made using this site.  After you've located the order you wish to edit (the most recent order will be at the top of the list), click "View/Modify" to edit the order details.

i'm teaching the same class i taught last year. can you reuse that same book list?

Yes! You can now copy orders made through the coursebook website.  Click here for an in-depth guide to duplicating your previous order(s).  Did you submit your order via email, phone, or in-person instead? Give us a call at (212) 865-1588 or email us at coursebooks@bookculture.com and we can pull up your previous book lists for use in the upcoming term.
